Coakley Brothers Company recognizes its 125th Anniversary

Peggy Coakley, CEO of Coakley Brothers, is excited to announce that Coakley Brothers is celebrating its 125th year in business in 2013. The company is commemorating this historic anniversary throughout the month of August and will be hosting a large company-wide celebration at Miller Park on August 20th.

Coakley Brothers was founded in 1888 as the Lightning Messenger Service by three brothers, George, Bill & Charlie Coakley. These Original Coakley Brothers represented the 3rd generation of an Irish family that had emigrated from Ireland to America in 1838.

Peggy Coakley, who has led Coakley Brothers since 1999, represents the 4th Generation of her family to lead the organization. Peggy followed in the footsteps of her father, Neil Coakley Sr. who led Coakley Brothers for over fifty years. Peggy relayed the excitement of this historic anniversary; “It is a tremendous honor to lead this organization as we celebrate our 125th Anniversary. We could not have reached this milestone without the contributions of valued employees, both past and present. We look to the future and acknowledge our past, with a sense of extreme pride and great purpose.”

For 125 years Coakley Brothers has provided exemplary service to a rapidly growing and changing City of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin. As an organization we take immense pride in our ability to consistently meet and exceed the expectations of our customers. As we announced our anniversary to our large customer base we were humbled by the words and feedback that long standing customers provided to us. To honor her father Neil, and to coincide with the 125th Anniversary of the company, Peggy Coakley has commissioned a book on the history of Coakley Brothers. The book is dedicated to the Milwaukee Community for its trust in the company over the years and to the many employees, past and present, who have made the company the success it is today. It is due to be released in October of this year.
